  9.      The HP 28691A EtherTwist Hub/8 is a 10Base-T multiport repeater that
  10.      includes eight twisted-pair ports and one thin coaxial (BNC) port. The
  11.      Hub/8 repeats and retimes signals, handles collision management, and
  12.      monitors individual link status. In addition, the hub automatically
  13.      segments individual ports disturbing the network and reconnects them
  14.      when the problems are cleared.
  15.         The Hub/8 can be used in small networks with just Hub/8s. In
  16.      addition, it may be cascaded from other hubs such as the HP EtherTwist
  17.      Hub Plus to add more nodes in an office.

  20.      Low-Cost LAN Infrastructure:  The HP EtherTwist Hub/8 gives you a low
  21.      connection cost that used to be possible only with ArcNet and thin coax,
  22.      while delivering the speed and reliability of 10Base-T (Ethernet on
  23.      twisted-pair cabling).
  24.         Simple Plug-and-Play Operation:  The Hub/8 is designed to simplify
  25.      the installation and startup of your LAN. Twisted-pair cable plugs
  26.      directly into the RJ-45 ports, and coaxial backbone cable can be
  27.      connected to the integrated BNC port. No configuration or special setup
  28.      is required, which allows you to start up your LAN in minutes.
  29.         Topology Flexibility:  Hub/8s can stand alone to support up to eight
  30.      users or be combined to support larger networks in various
  31.      configurations. Hubs can be connected using the BNC port with thin
  32.      coaxial backbone cable, or cascaded with twisted-pair cable. Either way
  33.      gives you growth paths for the future.

  58.      The EtherTwist Hub/8s can be connected to one another by cascading with
  59.      twisted-pair cables (crossover required) or daisy-chained on thin

  74.      10Base-T equipment on the market today, giving you the confidence you
  75.      need to build a multivendor network that best fits your business

  78.      Maximum Reliability Through Fault Isolation
  79.      An HP EtherTwist hub automatically identifies any segment disturbing the
  80.      network and disconnects it from the rest of the network
  81.      (autosegmentation), ensuring network integrity. Once the problem is
  82.      corrected, the hub automatically reconnects the segment.

  84.      HP WireTest and Cabling
  85.      HP EtherTwist LANs use twisted-pair cabling (ordinary telephone wire).
  86.      Two pairs of 22, 24, or 26 AWG unshielded twisted-pair wire are required
  87.      for each connection. Shielded twisted-pair wire can also be used.
  88.         The HP WireTest Service is available to qualify your existing
  89.      telephone cabling for use in a Type 10Base-T network. Contact your local
  90.      HP Sales and Support Office or your HP Authorized LAN Dealer for
  91.      information and availability of this service. If you have a large
  92.      network and wish to do your own testing, you can purchase the HP 28687A
  93.      Wire Test Instrument.
